The source of many students’ challenging behaviors is not being fed enough emotionally and psychologically by their parents, teachers, and the environment.
A students’ psychological foundation includes basic needs, such as; competence, autonomy and a sense of belonging. If these needs are not nurtured well enough by their parents and their teachers, problems may arise that create great challenges in their sense of belonging.
Emerging problems and challenges need to be addressed with intervention immediately in hopes of solving them permanently.
The Preventive Counseling model applied by Academic Window examines students’ relationships with their parents, teachers, and peers and produces long-term solutions for potential problems. Counseling brings social and academic success into school life and extends an outer shell of protection for lifelong happiness into adulthood.
