Although school counselors’ responsibility is to be interested in all students, they spend the majority of their time with problematic students. The percentage of problematic students in schools could change 10%-30% each year. The remaining student population, 70%-90%, attending school regularly, seem to be able to cope with the ups and downs of issues that arise at school. During the school years, emotional requirements, different relationships with classmates, teachers or parents will gradually have an academic impact that may become a negative component for students. A school counselors discovery of students’ impactful challenges during school hours is paramount before issues become more serious. Preventive school counseling helps to discover students’ potentially, impactful problems quickly. This frees up time; helping school counselors to focus on the entire school with a compass in order to guide their school community.
